![]() ![]() I was thinking they may have some legacy support (not so lucky) and I also thought that I might be able to get some hardware info from them. I pulled down the Vista drivers and looked at readme's- let me know if any of this helps. I was hoping there might be some generic drivers that I might use- but, of course, we need to know the hardware. I click on Driver details and get a beep and an error message- "No driver devices are required or have been loaded for this device." I did as Frank4d suggested but it is not encouraging. I was thinking that I would need more than the screen shot after I posted it. I am adding the link to the eMachine site with particulars. I put 1024M of RAM in it and it now has a 320G HD. Any suggestions other than going out and buying Vista (where?) or finding his install disk? Not feeling too good about it right now since I can't hear anything or network. I would like to ensure that the computer is working and will work when he loads the right OS. Part of the issue is that he is moving out of the area in a few weeks and most everything he owns is on a truck (hopefully the disks also). So, I went to the eMachines site to find drivers and this is where I am guessing I will have an issue- they only have drivers for Vista- no XP and no Sys 7. I opened up Computer Management and saw that there are several drivers missing. I chose XP because I had the OS disk and he did not have the Vista disks that came with the computer.Īnyway- XP loaded fine but I noticed I have no audio and no LAN. It fired up and I was able to load XP onto it. I was able to trace the issue to 2 areas- the RAM and the hard drive- both of which I replaced. Believe it or not, the unit fared pretty well- was only half submerged. I have a friend whose desktop was in the basement when it flooded.
